Berkshire County, located in western Massachusetts, offers four season beauty and recreation. With its mountains, foothills, peaceful lakes, rivers, farms and autumn trees, beauty is never out of sight.

Activities

Activities seem endless. There is hiking, skiing, biking, camping, canoeing & boating, fishing, golfing and much more.

Attractions

There are several ski resorts, numerous lakes, ponds and rivers, museums, pick-your-own orchards, music festivals, arts, and cultural program.

One recent addition is the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail. This former railroad route was converted into a 10-foot wide paved bike, walking and roller blading path. The Rail Trail runs parallel to Route 8 by Cheshire Lake, through wooded areas, and along streams from Lanesboro to Adams, Massachusetts. This trail runs past the Berkshire Hills School. Statistics

Berkshire County has an approximate population of 133,000, while the largest city, Pittsfield, has a population of about 46,000.
